Documenting and Preserving the Willamette Valley Climbing Community’s Art, Stories, and Culture.

Who?

Meg Geiger

Meg has been part of the Eugene climbing community since 2019. Their parents are begging them to buckle down and graduate from the University of Oregon, but she started this passion project instead. Editor, designer, marketing department, and distributor for CHOSS, Meg attempts to balance her time studying American philosophy, creative writing, and love for live music with her love for the climbing community. There is often some overlap. In her free time, Meg enjoys traditional climbing at the columns, being a nuisance to the Elevation setting team, beading, and writing poetry and stories.

Lincoln James

Lincoln is the head routesetter at Elevation Bouldering Gym and a bouldering instructor at the University of Oregon. Born and raised in Eugene, he is a cornerstone of the Eugene climbing community, responsible for cultivating and curating the indoor climbing experience for thousands of people. His innovation, knowledge, creativity, and passion for climbing movement, culture, the local music scene, and Eugene history, shine through in his creative and professional endeavors. Lincoln is responsible for many of the ideas behind the formant, design, and distribution of CHOSS. He is also responsible for cultivating a culture of kindness and curiosity within the climbing community, with a large emphasis placed on process over outcome.

“Choss is the little bit of magic that you take home. The piece of the puzzle that crumbled just for you.

The unique fragment that changed its shape beneath your shoe.

The crux hold that you dared to glue.

The crimp that shattered before you flew.

The moss you scraped off just to return and it regrew.

The mark you left that ripples out to everyone who dares walk a similar path.

Guidance can be found and given in your little piece of Choss.

Like pebbles in the hourglass, when our world turns upside down,
it’s best to go with the flow: together.”
